Homewatch success

On Saturday one of our street wardens became aware of an activated smoke alarm in one of her neighbours houses. To cut a long story short and two fire engines later a major incident was prevented. The neighbour had left a pan of potatoes on the hob and then gone out, The Jersey Royals soon dried up and the pan began to disintegrate, the resultant smoke set the alarm off and that's when the Homewatch team swung into action.Entry to the house was made easy because the key holder was specified, the fire service did what they are good at and the house remains intact albeit a bit smelly. A classic example of how Homewatch can positively contribute to neighbourhood safety. Well done to the street coordinator and well done Homewatch.
