Major savings at County

One of my jobs is to chair the East Dorset Crime and Disorder Partnership about which I have blogged before. One of my concerns has been the duplication of officers time in attending meeting after meeting about the same subject before anything got done. This was just as prevalent in the partner organisations and I saw it as a considerable cost to the community and saving have had to be made.Together with Chief Superintendent Lynn Hart I initiated a complete review of the pan Dorset CDRP with a view to seeing if some joined up thinking and management could be applied to improve the situation and improve overall efficiency thus saving time and money. I am delighted to report that subject the final presentation to the DCC Safer Communities Group, the restructure is virtually complete and subject to ratification by all parties will be ready to go by next April.Substantial opportunity cost savings will result from the restructure and a far more elegant communication and strategic management system will result. Sounds boring doesn't it, but this is what is needed in many more areas of County activity in order to get good value for tax payers money and why I am anxious to get to grips other areas where savings can be made.
