Christchurch gridlock

It took me nearly forty five minutes to get from Stanpit to the old Apex corner yesterday. The road works at Fairmile appears to be the main cause although I was told that Castle Lane was also blocked and that contributed to the whole mess. Just what do we do? At the front door residents are telling me that they adore Christchurch but are considering moving because so much of their day is spent in traffic jams.County is supposed to have produced a traffic plan years ago after the Liberal vote to kill the Christchurch relief road, so where is it? And what is going to happen when we reach the RSS target for increased dwellings (3000) in the town in 2011? In my opinion the frustration caused by the gridlock is responsible for drivers taking on almost anti-social driving when they reach clear roads in an attempt to make up time. The result is that residents perception of speeding traffic goes through the roof as is now.We cannot continue with a 'head in the sand attitude' what is needed is strong representation at County and make this issue a priority.By the way had our Liberal friends not voted against the by-pass we would not be in this mess.
