One last thing
Yesterday I learned that a middle aged gentleman was caught red handed allowing his dog to defecate and then not picking up the resulting litter. He was seen by a CBC community environment officer and a community police officer so was 'banged to rights'. This man is now the recipient of a £50 fine which was served today. Next month our officers will be able to give on the spot fines which will be recorded and processed electronically. What this means is that CBC are now getting to grips with this problem and although this is the first fine under our new system and it has been a long time coming it does show our intent to see that dog owners 'bag it and bin it'. If we want to see cleaner streets and pathways as well as open spaces free of dog muck then regrettably, more fines are on the way. So if you are aware of owners who flagrantly break the law by littering in this way let your local patrol officer know. Also spread the word that we mean business.
