Community Services Meeting 17th December
At the next Community Services Meeting an agenda item will be the Stanpit Marsh Advisory Panel Report. This is a highly technical document produced by team of local volunteers and employed specialists plus representatives from Natural England. The report has taken nearly two years to produce and will go to public consultation following the meeting. Providing it is accepted that is!The fundamental issue contained within the verbiage is whether or not we as a population and CBC as the control organisation is executing statutory requirements properly to ensure that the Marsh is maintained, enhanced as a SSSI status Nature Reserve. Its use just as an Open Public Space with no specific and executable Bye Law to protect the biodiversity and ensure that the facility is kept in good shape for our grandchildren to enjoy in the future, has to be the key issue within the consultation period. We know how scarce our wild life is becoming and how important this area is to our being able to sustain Purewell and Stanpit as something special to residents and eco-tourists so I urge you to read, digest, consider carefully the report, comment constructively with the aim of protecting this important space.
