Fireworks in Stanpit

The 1st November sees again the enormous bonfire on the rec. and the massive firework display arranged by Round Table. I have mixed emotions about this event, whilst it is super to see so many people enjoying themselves I am very aware of the concerns of pet owners and those of us who are more sensitive to the bangs and whooshes of the sophisticated fireworks they use today. Also the damage to the rec. takes months to repair.
I don't want to be grumpy about this but I do wish that everyone would go to the rec and pay rather than taking up vantage points where they can see the show for free, cars block side turnings all for the sake of saving a couple of quid which would go to a good cause.
Two years ago we had big problems with anti-social behaviour, last year the Police did a great job and we did not have one incident apart from some idiot blocking a complete road by stupid parking. This year Police are again aware so enjoy, contribute by attending and empathise with local residents by taking litter home and behaving responsibly. Thanks.

The residents of Johnstone Road would like to thank Councillor Nottage for his viewa and concerns. They are very much appreciated.
