Conservative County Councillors standing up for Christchurch
The news that Dorset County Council highways intended to close the road at the Stony Lane bridge for thirteen weeks was met with incredulity but how refreshing to see Christchurch County Councillors standing up for Christchurch and tackling the problem head on and as a result gaining a review of the project in light of the serious effect on Burton traffic and the disruption to Christchurch traffic as a whole. Also the point that they made about joined up thinking should the Morrison's development at Stony Lane get the go ahead and the work that might have to be done to the Stony Lane roundabout. There appears to be every chance that the bridge repair and road change could be linked with the roundabout work should County highways proposals be accepted, with the objective of reducing the traffic upheaval to a minimum. So well done County Councillors, standing up for Christchurch.
