Domestic Violence
I attended and indeed opened a conference on anti-social behaviour(ASB) and domestic violence (DV) on Thursday of this week in my capacity of Chair of the Dorset Community Safety Partnership (DCSP). Last year across England and Wales 1.2million females and .8million males were subject to intervention by agencies as a result of DV and in Dorset we saw the issue to be important enough to be a DCSP priority. Over seventy delegates attended the conference/workshop which had specific objectives about early intervention, safeguarding and monitoring. I was going to publish my opening statement to the conference but in light of there being on going incidents decided against. Suffice to say the across Dorset Police and other agencies are working in partnership to ensure mutual understanding and partnership working. Most important was the issue of cross agency/border communications on families troubled by DV, to ensure that all parties are aware and are working to a common end with the best knowledge base possible. I found my time at the conference very rewarding.
