The great 'Bake Off '
A great morning yesterday, on the Quomps at the final Christchurch Food Festival weekend event. It is really astonishing to see what can be achieved by a dedicated group of volunteers and I take my hat off to all those involved. I was also very proud to see the Splash Park and kids play area so well used although I was concerned at some of the tots splashing about turned blue with cold as the wind reduced the disappointing temperature. In the marquees , youngsters up to their armpits in flour and water featured and were a joy to see. Just the most entertaining and well organised event with special mention for the litter picking team constantly on patrol keeping the whole area pristine. Whilst not sampling any of the array of fine cakes and pastries due to my expanding waistline I did succumb to a pint on the London bus and sat reflecting on my journeys when I was a kid in London to and from school' and the mischief we got up to when the conductor was not looking. Such a shame the weather did not deliver but at least the rain kept off, see you there today. By the way did you know that the bandstand on the Quomps is celebrating a very special anniversary this year?
