Stanpit Marsh Recreation Ground consultation.
A very lively exchange of views and opinions between residents, dog owners and the Council Officers at the last presentation of the ideas for the upgrading of this recreation ground. The consultation ends this week and the task of analysing the hundreds of consultation forms returned begin. All the ideas, comments and criticisms will be collated so that the matter will be brought to the Community Services Committee for assessment and then recommendation. What concerns me is that the more vocal of the persons who attended were more exercised by their view that the Council has some sort of hidden agenda in this consultation and this had something to do with control rather than just simply making the place better for all users, especially dog walkers. I think CBC has been very transparent and the whole consultation process will produce some further ideas which will add value to the end project. Meanwhile the use of the Heathlands Mitigation fund which has been allocated to fund this project will deliver the objective set for it of reducing the pressure on our diminishing heathlands.
