Today's surgery

A very interesting morning with the emphasis from residents on the problems being caused some challenged people not using the Dorset Waste Partnership facilities and leaving their waste lying in their front gardens in plastic bags which are subject to attack by seagulls and foxes. The resulting mess leads to vermin infestation, it seems inconceivable to me but that is what is going on and Cllr Davis was astonished to see for himself one property where this is happening having just resolved identical problems elsewhere in the ward. Monday morning will see us briefing CBC officers to see what can be done. Thanks to the concerned neighbours who have brought this to our attention. Christchurch hospital also figured in our discussions with anxious residents enquiring about the latest position. I was able to report on the excellent work by Conservative ward Councillors, residents, the NHS developers and officers in fast tracking the new plans through in time for the meeting on Thursday March 14th at 6.0 pm at the Council chambers. We were also able to report that the Stanpit Recreation ground improvement scheme is out for consultation so expect to be waylaid if you are walking that way. Consultation forms are available at the visitors centre on the marsh and at CBC offices. The scheme is such an improvement and achieves my target of raising the standard of this as not just a recreation area but also a part of an important biodiversity area including the Ship In Distress reed bed.As a result of another enquiry on Monday I will be asking about the Dorset County Council consultation about buses and bus useage across the Borough.Clearly this is as a result of DCC being responsible for financing the concessionary travel scheme and all that means. Purewell and Stanpit ward surgeries are at St Johns Church Purewell Cross on the first Saturday of the month apart from August, pop in to see us you are likely to meet like minded residents who are concerned about keeping our ward special. Oh, one thing I forgot Happy Birthday Sparky (our PCSO), life begins at 40 !!!

' .. some challenged people not using the Dorset Waste Partnership facilities.' It probably is 'inconceivable' to you. However, other people have different ideas: what is wrong with a weekly waste collection, with recycling facilities dotted around (eg Sainsbury's) for those like myself who wish to use them? Have you seen the cost of this recycling, and examined information about the inconvenience involved? Still, it ticks your boxes! To describe some of these residents as 'challenged' is offensive; they have their opinions.
