Public Budget meeting

I am pleased to report that following a tortuous procedure as a result of many and changing treasury dictates’ we have been able to agree our balanced budget for the coming year. This will be put to Resources committee next week and if agreed, to Full Council on the 26th February. Papers describing the detail will be out to members on Monday with corresponding publication in D4U. The council has a statutory duty to consult with interested members of the public and organisations and this we did last night following advertisements in the local press. I am pleased to say residents associations and representatives of the Chamber of Commerce attended and were recipients of a detailed analysis of the financial spectrum we are working in by our 151 officer followed by a workshop where they could decide priorities. It was agreed by all present to be an excellent way to engage with interested groups with considerable feedback for members and officers. Next week following presentation of details to members and the debate at Resources I will blog again with the salient issues arising.
