Next full Council meeting Tuesday evening 6.0pm

As you will know if you read this blog I have a thing about cynicism and cynics who actually do very little for the community but fire regular insults towards those who are putting their time and experience into making a difference. I did say once when asked about my own personal objectives that to turn cynicism in others into contribution to the community would be a great achievement. A lofty objective, I am sure you will agree but frankly when there is so much at stake it would be great if we had a list of people busting to become Councillors and willing to give their time to make Christchurch a better place to live, work and visit. Tuesday evening, at full Council would be a good time to see what we as a Council do, also to see what we have to put up with in terms of prudent management of Council assets which in reality are the community’s assets. It is always a disappointment to see a half empty chamber when important debates are conducted and certainly our agenda includes important issues. I am also constantly surprised at how many residents that I meet that have never witnessed a Council meeting so it would be very encouraging if we could get more residents along to our meetings and more who would be willing to stand as Councillors. If you are such a person please make yourself known to me. I must point out that there is no financial profit, just the satisfaction of contributing to a great community.
