Out of the sand come the cynics head again.

Just following the Echo story about the asset review being conducted very sensibly by CBC and EDDC and who pops up but a contributor who calls himself Victor Meldew Jnr. We all know who he is so I am not sure why he doesn't use his ordinary name. He predicts that CBC will be no more in the very new future, what he uses as the basis for this prediction I have no idea. I do suspect political opportunism; I also suspect he has no evidence whatsoever or qualification to make such a claim. Just pull that coiffure head out of the sand and make a baseless statement which makes no contribution to community harmony, on the contrary designed to cause disquiet. Well sorry mate I have got news for you, make of it what you will as you put your head further in the sand. CBC and EDDC are in the final stages of two major pieces of work which will take the Councils into the next decade and beyond. Our contribution to this work as Councillors brings sustainability and stability to the process. Planning a future for our brilliant Council is what we do; it is why we are there! At the heart of it is the objective of making Christchurch a better place whilst dealing with the crippling financial constraints that are upon us now and in the foreseeable future. This is a massive contribution which is gaining acknowledgement from central government, other bigger Councils and our residents who have the ability to see and understand what good management can do to alleviate future challenges. Planning for the future chum, not some nonsensical baseless rhetoric, solid and good management practice which transcends politics. Building a brilliant Council for the future based on sound Conservative values. My goodness Victor how you must be digging an even bigger hole to put your head in. Keep digging, all will be ok when your colleagues pull you out again. As leader of this Council I will make sure CBC will prosper.
