Moscow State Circus
We had short notice that our friends from Moscow wanted to include Stanpit on their United Kingdom grand tour. I was slightly concerned but as we have hosted this event in the past with no problems considered that we would be helping our tourist attraction just for the weekend. After all we are a holiday destination! I did not expect that what appears to be most of Moscow to turn up and certainly not at 3am in the morning. Nor did I expect that the services people from the water company would install the supply at that time. I understand this timing issue was caused by the Circus having some sort of traffic problem on the way through Sussex. However, all is calm now and the tented village looks very orderly and professional. Not so happy about the poster campaign all over the town as this seem a bit of an imposition especially as we have been careful to keep Christchurch poster free through the Britain in Bloom season. We have removed what we can from public owned places and are relying on private owners to do the same. This one will go into the book should the Moscow State wish to return in the future. So whilst these tourist events always cause some disruption I am fairly relaxed that we are doing our bit to boost our visitor trade.
