Christchurch Hospital

As I am on leave I was able to find the time to attend to some personal medical issues resulting from old age! This meant a visit to Christchurch Hospital. I have never been a believer of 'big NHS' as I am of the age that remembers things like community hospitals dotted around the place that were community centric,if there is such a phrase. I have hopes that the new Health and Wellbeing Boards, shortly to be introduced will take into account how important holding on to local treatment centres is to our population. I have also said in the past again and again that although Christchurch Hospital is on the Bournemouth Hospitals asset list it is also firmly embedded in the hearts of the community of Christchurch. Attending the hospital confirmed to me just how important the facilities it provides at present are, I was so impressed at the efficiency of the system, the pleasant and professional staff. I know there are serious economic issues to face not the least being the potential merger of Bournemouth and Poole Hospitals but I do think that we should take regard of the value that the Christchurch Hospital facility brings to our community. I will be speaking to our port folio holder for this area next Monday about the level of involvement CBC can bring to the discussions.
