SAMRA meeting

On Friday I was fortunate enough to conclude my business in London earlier than expected, managed to get to Waterloo in time for a train that got me to Christchurch in time for the SAMRA meeting at the Stanpit village hall. And I was pleased I did! This residents association, so important to the community is struggling to get residents to serve on its committees. Not an unusual story these days I know but frankly quite surprising knowing the excellent work undertaken by the group. For me a regular and frank interchange between resident associations like SAMRA and us as Councillors is vital if we are to keep in touch with local issues and for us to gauge local opinion on key directions. I would encourage any resident to get involved with SAMRA, it is not arduous, not necessarily time consuming and can be fun. Prior to becoming a Councillor I was on the committee so I do know something about what good work can be done and it can be very satisfying. The excellent suggestion that the association should become more computer wise should be followed up, great idea!
