The petrol fiasco

My father-in-law popped in to Sainsburys in the week to get a couple of essentials. The shopping took him ten minutes, to get out of the car park took him two and a quarter hours! The reason a queue of traffic waiting to access the petrol station. He quite correctly in my opinion phoned the Police on 101 to advise them of the situation as it was quite clearly getting out of hand and thank goodness they turned up quickly to deal with the chaos. All this due to statements from Westminster in reaction to a potential strike of tanker drivers. I understand that we should ensure we all have adequate supplies of fuel, I also understand that we should be putting the opposition in a position whereby they use their influence to stop this strike, I am also acutely aware of the political situation resulting from a strike in these highly charged economic times but the resulting panic from the population should be an indicator that matters like this should be dealt with a deal more sensitivity than shown by government spokesmen.
