Druitt Gardens

Whilst the area is still very much work in progress, I wandered through the gardens just to see how the project was progressing. To my delight another resident stopped to chat about the difference the opening up of the area was making and in doing so explained that prior to the work commencing she would never have ventured into the gardens on her own due to the threatening nature of the environ caused by overgrown foliage and the lack of TLC. Now she makes it her daily task to see how the work is progressing despite the muddy conditions underfoot. I thought that was really positive, why not pop down there to see for yourself, wear boots though!

'Another resident'.'threatening nature of the environment '..?!!! As to the lack of TLC that was the council's own responsibility...

No good asking one elderly lady...you need to ask everyone who uses or passes through the gardens and other residents.

I have spoken to dozens of residents who are appalled at the desecration of the gardens. Bequested to the people of Christchurch as a woodland and bird sanctuary it has become an open space with no undergrowth (essential for wildlife)and will soon become a fast track for cyclists. The council has blatently ignored many of it's own promises in the public consultation document...felling of extra trees/ surface of Creedy path/ cycling/ etc etc.

So, please don't try and make out it's all so wonderful... it is not you have ruined an itegral part of this town and it's history, which you seem to know little about.
