Christchurch where time is pleasant !
At this mornings meeting I said that I would to change our logo 'where time is pleasant' to 'where time is of the essence'. By concentrating the mind on the time imperative might change the annoying attitude portrayed that all we are is a nice coastal town with heritage and the greatest number of retirees in the country, a nice place to spend a day at. And yet we are much more than that, we have a growing business base which is vibrant, young and dynamic. Our location close to the Airport gives us connectivity other towns would die for. We do have an expanding school population with links to our local University located just down the road in Bournemouth. So why are these attributes not the thrust of our presentations along with all the other stuff about tourism. Are we selling ourselves short by not laying our stall out for prospective employers, new wave industries and anyone else that wants to live and work in fabulous surroundings with the ocean as the back stop?Should we be giving ourselves a wake up call to do with the fact that we have a glorious opportunity to grow Christchurch in the way we want and to the benefit of our population? We just have to get together work in partnership and decide the direction.
