I wonder when it will start to slow down?
Another hectic week of Council business which has taken me to a different part of this very steep learning curve as leader of the Council. Consideration of partnership working at just about every level has dominated this week with some really encouraging signs that indicate progress in achieving targets set for actual financial savings and also and just as importantly smarter working at committees both at Christchurch and East Dorset. And some personal goals obtained not the least of which was the launch of the section 17 plan for a more uniform handling of the Community Safety Partnership plan to reduce crime and disorder in Christchurch and across the County. This has taken me four years to get into place so now we have a clear statement of Councillors statutory duties and a common template across Dorset as to how we deliver the improvements targeted. This will go to full Council this or next month for formal adoption, a very important milestone for partnership working across six Boroughs, Districts and County. In addition further good news when the 2011 Health profiles for Christchurch were issued from NHS which show improvements from last year in Diabetes diagnosis in the Borough and an enormous improvement in the item which concerned me last year namely child activity levels. Add to all this good news the interview I gave to the ECHO about business in Christchurch and the energy we are putting in as a Council for improving our town centre and becoming a welcoming Council to new business opportunity and we have a cocktail of positive and objective vision for the future. A good fulfilling week.
