Recycling bins at Stanpit Marsh car park

On the 31st December I blogged about my considerable concerns over the location of the recycling bins at Stanpit Marsh car park. This following a frightening fire in the paper bin which caused the residents nearby to leave their beds and get the fire service to deal with the not inconsiderable fire. Fireman had to return next morning as the fire reignited such was the intensity of the blaze. The side wall and roof of a property is just a few meters from the heart of the fire, causing great concern to the owners. Had the wind been in an unfavourable direction serious damage could have resulted and clearly a potential threat to property and persons could have resulted. Regrettably this matter is still left in abeyance due to, I am told recycling targets and convenience of this site as a dumping ground. An alternative site has been located requiring limited work at 2RM, this has the benefit of CCTV surveillance and does not risk property. I will be tabling a Members question for full Council requiring this matter to be dealt with quickly. Should you be happy to support this proposal please direct your correspondence to the Council.
