Article in the Echo about Argyle Road slipway.

At the recent SAMRA members meeting I was asked to reply to a question about the ownership of the slipway at Argyle Road. This I did, explaining that the actual ramp is and has been for many years before I arrived on the scene (over twenty in my case)under private not public ownership. I was asked if I could establish who the owners of the land were and this I agreed to do. As I understood this question was to do with the depreciating state of the slipway and concerns over safety. At no time was it made clear that this question was about anything else other than the condition of the slipway and I went to great length to explain that irrespective of ownership the slipway was available for use by the public and that that would not change as far as I could see. Imagine my surprise when I was contacted by the Echo a few days later asking me to comment on an article being written for publication as a result of the question, which I now understand to have been a set up designed to reignite the 'we want to put tents and caravans on Fishermans Bank' saga. Despite having waisted County Councillors time this time last year when Dorset C.C. 'Roads and Rights of Way Committee' threw the complaints out and following endless and pointless complaints to Borough Councillors, articles and letters to local newspapers making baseless claims that freeholders had somehow annexed the land that has existed on their epitome's since the turn of the last century, the perpetrators have been fuelled by the Christchurch cell of the Liberal party election publications and decided to waste more taxpayers money by trying to drag this whole matter through the various committees again. That article appeared this week and I suppose it will do much to again threaten the harmony of the neighbourhood. So I suppose the Liberal party has done what it set out to achieve, is anyone impressed?
