Litter in Purewell
Walking from Purewell Cross to the Star pub this morning I was horrified to see the amount of litter and detritus scattered in the greenery and tucked away in the odd corner or fenced area. Tin cans, pizza cartons food and beverage wrappers just lazily thrown on to the ground for others to deal with.Just what do we have to do to make people understand that this is unacceptable behaviour and is an indication of a total lack of pride in the place that they live. And what a lovely place it is, will someone please tell me how to get this message over because I am now getting very cross. We are fining people who litter and we are getting pathetic letters of complaint when we do, one I read this morning made no apology just a list of abuse because they had been caught and fined £50. Regrettably this seems to be the only redress we have and I just do not understand why persons will not understand that littering our streets and pavements is so anti social. Not enough litter bins is the first repost, I think that is missing the point you make the rubbish you take it home any other way leads to costs to the local taxpayer for the maintenance and emptying of the bins.Picnic areas maybe that's where bins are located, but eating and drinking in the street and then chucking the containers on the floor has got to stop. I am giving notice that our Community Environment Officers and our PCSO'S are being directed to stop warning and start fining.
