Keeping warm this winter

Whilst the frost and snow may be very pretty it is not welcome by some of our residents who are struggling to meet extraordinary increases in fuel bills. I am about to issue a circular which describes what 'fuel poverty' is and what you can do about it. We are fortunate to have a fuel expert as a councillor and this sort of problem is 'food and drink' to Cllr David Jones. So he is going to join with us to put a circular out into Purewell and Stanpit to see if we can get some advantages to the elderly residents who are concerned about meeting the bills. Already I know that if you are over 65 you can get your supplier to put you onto a priority list. This will ensure that in an emergency, for instance a power cut, your power will be reinstalled with priority. There are other packages available especially if your bills are more than 10% of your income.
