Statement from CBC re buses in Stanpit as promised

BUS SERVICE - UPDATE
Negotiations with Dorset Country Council and Wilts and Dorset have taken
place and we are waiting for Wilts and Dorset to respond when they complete
their review of the C1, C2 and X12 service. The aim is for the X12 to go into
the bus stops at Bournemouth Hospital and other minor changes, and for the
C1 and C2 service to become permanent with longer hours and an improved
service to Highcliffe.
The number of people using the C1 and C2 service has steadily risen, and until
1st December there appeared to be no major problems. On 1st December
Wilts and Dorset increased their fares dramatically with the intention of
doubling the subsidy they receive from Christchurch Borough Council for the
concessionary fares on this route. I have asked for an urgent meeting with the
Managing Director of Wilts and Dorset, as I consider this to be a totally
unacceptable action.
I am still optimistic that we will make good progress on the C1, C2 and X12
routes in the New Year, but am disturbed that a 'partner' should have acted in
this way.
