Stanpit Marsh Management Plan
I have received a number of complaints that this item was pulled from the agenda of the Community Services Meting on the 17th Dec. This was compounded by there being no announcement at the start of the meeting that the matter had been deferred. So some residents sat for an hour of other business in ignorance of the fact that it had been pulled. This plan has been in the making for over two years so is well overdue and should really have been submitted together with the Harbour Management Plan which is out for public consultation as I write. These plans should be joined 'at the hip' so to speak but now it seems the SMMP will be rewritten at the request of the C. S. committee although I have not been advised as to what part of the technical advice given by the panel of experts is in deficit.I intend in the New Year to see that this matter is brought to a head. Stanpit Marsh is so very important to Purewell and Stanpit as a recreation area and a SSSI, it has to be protected, the wild life has to be protected and the balance of public usage and nature reserve status carefully handled to ensure CBC acts in accordance with the statutory duties described.
