What a storm!
I have not ventured out this morning preferring to stay close to home in this unbelievable weather. I have just heard fro the news that we have this to look forward to for another two weeks! Reports are coming in from down the coast of considerable transport infrastructure damage and I will be getting reports later today as to the situation in Christchurch. As it stands we appear to be suffering from a massive storm surge as the tide levels are far less than the last few days. Coastal and general damage as a result of this period of weather is running into millions of pounds, money that this council does not have so we are currently active in pursuing DEFRA and central government as to how/ where this money is coming from. Some of it is needed very quickly !
Good luck with that.
ReplyDeleteI would be interested to know your thoughts as to whether you believe the current conditions are a once in one hundred years event or if extremes of weather are becoming a more frequent feature of our climate.
ReplyDeleteFrankly I am confused on this issue, when reports come forward that the weather conditions are the worst for one hundred years it must indicate that we have been here before. On the other hand I am convinced that factors effecting the jet stream could be to do with sea warming and this could be due to human activity. But if the weather pattern has occurred at different world industry/population rates in the past this could be a natural phenomenon. Whatever,we have to adapt to it. This morning a beautiful blue sky, tomorrow who knows!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWell the scientific community seem pretty unanimous. Let this be a wake up call to everyone and let's get that wind farm built!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this your point is well made but as it stands you are in a considerable minority so get out and get some support. The latest change by Navitas is certainly welcome as it has pushed the site beyond the 12 mile limit but it is still the most contentious issue on mine and Parliamentary residents letter list. I will represent the overall direction determined from the majority of Christchurch residents. This as established from discussions with resident associations et al.
